This digital transformation project involving Exprivia, in collaboration with the SNP Group, affects about 30% of the population of Southern Italy.
The Group Acquedotto Pugliese SpA (AQP) is the public drinking water supply infrastructure in the Apulia region and some municipalities of Campania. The Group supplies drinking water to approximately 4 million people in Apulia and 30,000 in Campania. This amounts to about 30% of the total population of Southern Italy, where improving the water infrastructure is of fundamental importance for the area's progress.

Demand
Given the high population density of Southern Italy which must be guaranteed the supply of public water, AQP deemed it necessary to digitally evolve the management tools at its disposal.

AQP thus embarked on a process of digital transformation by initiating the migration to SAP S/4HANA remotely. In order to allow AQP to obtain the maximum added value from this operation, Exprivia and SNP (Swiss partner company and leader in digital transformation), have included a system scan with Crystal Bridge®, the data transformation platform created by SNP, in the evaluation.

The Project
To support the transformation schedule requested by the customer, Exprivia and SNP have begun the migration process remotely: a fundamental aspect considering the current epidemic. The SHAPE project involved an international team composed of about 50 consultants connected remotely, not only from Italy but also from Spain, Switzerland, Germany, Poland, Hungary, Czech Republic and Slovakia. Among other things, the migration to SAP S/4HANA included the introduction of a new SAP GL, General Ledge, for finance and accounting. Moreover, thanks to the Bluefield solution created by SNP, it was possible to integrate the solutions and data previously used in the old system directly within the new system, making them instantly available to the AQP operators. Following the migration, the project includes the revision - based on the new innovative features offered by SAP S/4HANA - of AQP's core processes and the adaptation of its Business Intelligence systems. The evolution was carried out on schedule, in about 10 months, and allowed for the migration of a DB of approximately 7 TBytes during the very short downtime of about 36 hours. The new system was made available to AQP Business after 72 hours.

Having a high performance and scalable management system enabled AQP to instantly cut both the management costs of landscape SAP as well as those for managing the organisation which will see latency times for core activities reduced.

Benefits
Exprivia and SNP have clearly demonstrated their key expertise in the remote implementation of complex projects. The migration to SAP S/4HANA allows to support the customer in addressing the challenges and opportunities of the digital age in a flexible, rapid and always up-to-date way. The new S4 suite is designed to provide the best possible support for the digital transformation of companies.
