One of today’s SD-WAN benefit is the centralized management of configurations through the use of policy templates. Automation solely performed in this way is a force multiplier, but doing it thoughtlessly can create as many problems as it solves.

Enterprises and service providers have various options when they come to select networking technology and SD-WAN in particular: to use a product of a commercial vendor, to use an open source offered by a commercial vendor with a commercial license, support and other services or to build their own solution using the open source elements available.
