The SI-ROBOTICS project aims to conceive and develop new solutions in the field of ICT assistive robotic technologies to support the provision of healthcare services.
The scientific objective of SI-ROBOTICS is to design and implement easily adaptable technological solutions to help the elderly in their daily activities and to assess the progress of their physical and cognitive decline (fragility, dementia, mild cognitive impairment). This makes it possible to identify specific challenges for early diagnosis, objective assessment, therapy control and rehabilitation. Innovative robotics concepts and solutions will be introduced to anticipate user needs and provide assistance, monitoring and coaching.

THE RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT PROJECT

SI-ROBOTICS (SIR) aims to design and develop innovative collaborative robotics solutions with advanced skills to support human beings in health and care services. SIR proposes an innovative approach that integrates ICT&Robotics and in which human beings, IoT devices, social robots based on Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Cloud related objects will be integrated to create a “cognitive agent” able to anticipate needs and provide assistance, monitoring and coaching. A distinctive feature is the creation of advanced models of interaction, designed to foster a positive perception by older people with the aim of motivating active ageing and responsible participation of people in their care. The ambition is to provide and evaluate new continuous care processes through a portfolio of health services covering different levels of care intensity, from home and residential to hospital care.

Exprivia, project leader, assumes the role of project coordinator, will collaborate with the other partners in the design of the system architecture and AI-based software services and functionalities and will take care of the activities related to the integration of the various components of the SI ROBOTICS system.
