Antonio
Giugliano
Board Member
Born in Salerno and lived in Naples for over 20 years.
His father was an officer in the Royal Engineers and his mother a mathematician; both came from families of entrepreneurs in the construction and food industries.
Graduated with first-class honours in Electrical Engineering from the Polytechnic University of Naples in 1970.
In 1970, he joined Italtel (then Sit-Siemens), a major company within the Stet Group operating in the telecommunications sector, and immediately began working in the ICT department supporting the development of telephone exchanges.
In the early 1980s, at Marisa Bellisario’s Italtel, he was responsible for the development of systems supporting the design, production and deployment of new digital switching centres.
In the late 1980s, his entrepreneurial spirit, combined with the solid skills he had acquired, led him to found the Pride Group: the Italian IT and telecommunications company offering top-of-the-range products and services in Italy and Europe.
In ten years, starting from a small initial team of seven professionals under his leadership, Mr Giugliano grew the Pride Group to around 1,000 employees and a turnover of over 100 billion lire by the end of 2000. These results placed the Pride Group among the ranks of major companies, and in this capacity the Group joined Confindustria during those years and launched a project to list on the stock exchange, which was subsequently suspended due to a sudden change in the economic climate.
Over the following 10 years, the Pride Group grew to over 2,000 employees and approximately €130 million in revenue, with five offices in Italy (Milan, Rome, Naples, Turin and Padua) and branches in the four main European countries: Germany, France, Spain and the UK. It also established itself as one of the most significant Italian-owned national players in the ICT sector within the Telecom and Energy-Utilities markets, making significant investments in the development of products to support telecoms operators.
The major global consolidation process in the ICT market and the successes that have gained international recognition brought the Pride Group to the attention of the Swedish multinational ‘Ericsson’, which acquired the core telecommunications and utilities businesses following a spin-off of the SAP, Central Public Administration and Managed Services businesses (the latter acquired by IBM).
From 2010 onwards, therefore, Antonio Giugliano, together with a small group of managers, continued his entrepreneurial activities with the aim of enhancing the value of the assets brought together under Present.
Thanks to organic growth and M&A operations, Present grew from an initial €35 million in 2010 to over €115 million in 2024, with a workforce of over 1,500 professionals.
By the end of 2024, the search for an industrial partner was completed, leading Present to join the Exprivia Group, thereby becoming one of the most important national players with a presence and operations worldwide.
He currently serves as a Director on the Board of Directors of Present S.p.A. and on the Board of Directors of Giano S.r.l.. He is also a member of the General Council of Assinform, a role which will come to an end next June.
