Needs

The Fameccanica group is made up of four companies with production sites in Italy, China, Brazil and North America.

Very attentive to the continuous search for new solutions, to the organization of work and management processes, Fameccanica is a company in constant expansion that has found in Exprivia the ideal partner for its innovation projects aimed at digital transformation aiming at the goal of Industry 4.0.

In 2011, Fameccanica’s management decided to equip production with a new information system based on SAP ECC 6.0 software to be used both for the Italian parent company Fameccanica Data SpA and for the three foreign subsidiaries: Fameccanica North America in Cincinnati (FNA), Fameccanica Machinery in Shanghai (FMS) and Fameccanica do Brasil in São Paulo (FDB).

In early 2026, the on-premises SAP ECC 6.0 system was migrated—with significant technical and functional support from Exprivia—to the cloud version of SAP S/4HANA Private Edition (Rise with SAP), ensuring its continued evolution in terms of functionality and process efficiency in the months that followed. The new system was also rolled out internationally at Fameccanica North America’s new plants in Cincinnati and Boston.

Exprivia Solution

The system requirements defined with Exprivia on logics inspired by Industry 4.0, aimed to manage the locations of foreign plants through a centralized operating system, and then carry out subsequent roll-out projects on the other companies of the Group. It is also very important to ensure integration between processes by optimizing the flow of communication, increase efficiency by reducing low value-added activities, support the introduction of homogeneous operating procedures, safeguarding the peculiarities of the business, and prepare a single application and infrastructure platform that is solid, flexible and open to possible future extensions.

Results

The introduction of the SAP/ERP platform by Exprivia has led to improvements in both process and digital functionality.

Improvement of business
processes and activitiesThese improvements can be quantified as greater productivity and efficiency in key processes, greater possibility of cost control and analysis, greater ease in consolidating data at group level and introduction of homogeneous operating procedures between the different companies, respecting the peculiarities of each individual production and commercial area.

Increasing digitalization
The advantage in the strictly technical area is configured in the extension to foreign companies of a single application/infrastructure platform that is flexible and susceptible to evolution, in the drastic reduction in the number of external applications and interfaces, in the management of the localization of foreign plants starting from a single reference kernel. Also noteworthy is the decisive organizational orientation towards digital evolution and the growth within Fameccanica of process know-how with the related parameterization and installation logics.

With a one-million-euro order, Exprivia has created the largest local network for the publication of clinical information and diagnostic imaging in Mexico, implemented in the IT system of the Instituto de Seguritad y Servicios sociales de los Trabajadores del Estado (ISSTE), the mutual society for public employees.

Needs

The analysis of the context highlighted two fundamental critical issues:

The client had a fragmented panorama of report and image archiving systems: most of the hospitals in the network were not equipped with electronic tools for radiology, endoscopy and pathological anatomy diagnosis. In addition, many hospitals lacked tools for digitization, and others were equipped with differently owned RIS/PACS systems.

There was no tool for electronic sharing of diagnostic results through the network of regional, general and specialist hospitals.

Exprivia Solution

Exprivia’s EHR (Electronic Health Record) system consists of a repository for archiving clinical documents and a RIS/PACS – VNA (Vendor Neutral Archive) system and allows the archiving and distribution of both images and reports in the radiology and endoscopy sectors, but also pathological anatomy reports. The project was carried out in collaboration with Tesi Mexico, and was carried out in the record time of only 8 months.

The management of images at the enterprise level (multi-site), the implementation of decentralized repository tools, and the ability to integrate the centralized electronic file, were a decisive combination for the assignment of the order.

Results

The customer can now manage all diagnostic results completely digitally and with absolute respect for privacy. The introduction of the electronic health record brings particular advantages to the most critical patients, who usually go through a general, regional and then specialist level of care, and can thus have documentation accessible to all levels of the Mexican health system.
