The project will study and develop innovative capabilities and technologies, both on the ground and on board the aircraft, to provide a clearer picture of sUAS traffic conditions and enable better and more accurate management of emergency situations arising from dynamic airspace constraints or unforeseen events affecting the safety and effectiveness of operations.<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"margin-bottom: 5px; line-height: 1.3; font-size: 1.5em;\">THE RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT PROJECT<\/h2>\n<p>Starting with an analysis of the regulatory framework governing the conduct and management of sUAS operations in VLL airspace, the AcrOSS project will study and develop innovative technological solutions both on the ground and on board aircraft to provide a clear picture of sUAS traffic and ensure the correct management of emergency situations.<\/p>\n<p>The innovation proposed by the project concerns:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>the UAS segment, with a view to improving the UAS operator\u2019s situational awareness by implementing dynamic re-planning capabilities and automatic contingency manoeuvres, in order to ensure the efficiency and safety of UAS flights;<\/li>\n<li>the ability to manage low-altitude drones, covering all flight phases of sUAS operations, from the strategic phase through to the post-flight phase, within airport airspace and, more generally, within sensitive areas.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The subsystems developed, once suitably integrated, will be tested through flight campaigns to be carried out at Taranto Grottaglie Airport and through dedicated simulation campaigns.<\/p>\n<p>Exprivia, which is participating in the project by virtue of its expertise and experience in the design and development of real-time software for mission-critical systems, boasting extensive experience in the design and development of applications for air traffic control and management systems, will be responsible for the development of the ground system defined as \u201cSimulation and Playback Investigation Platform\u201d, which will enable the periodic and synchronised acquisition of heterogeneous data streams for analysis phases, supporting simulation activities and performing recording and playback functions to reproduce, analyse and investigate real and simulated scenarios.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Directorate Decree No. 1735\/Ric of 13 July 2017. \u201cCall for the submission of industrial research and experimental development projects in the 12 areas of specialisation identified by the 2015-2020 National Research Programme\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<h2 style=\"margin-bottom: 5px; line-height: 1.3; font-size: 1.5em;\">PARTNERSHIP:<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>I.D.S.
